FAQ

Q. Is my donation tax-deductible? A. Yes, however always consult your tax specialist tocorrectly understand the tax-deductable portion of your gift.

Q. Will I receive a receipt for my gift? A. Yes. When you donate to MSU Denver in any amount, you will be mailed a receipt from the Development Office as soon as your donation is processed. If you donate online, we will email you a receipt.

Q. How quickly will my donation be processed? A. Typically donations are processed within a week from when they are received.

Q. Who should I call if I need a duplicate receipt? A. Please contact the Development Office at 303-615-0055.

Q. Can I use my MSU Denver corporate card to make a gift? A. No, MSU Denver corporate cards cannot be used to make a donation.

Q. May I keep my gift anonymous? A. Yes. Your personal and payment information is always secure and confidential. And if you wish your gift to remain anonymous, you can do so by indicating your preference on the donation form or when you mail in your donation.

Q. What is a matching gift? A. A matching gift occurs when your or your spouse’s employer matches a donation with an equal or greater amount, thereby increasing your contribution. Matching gifts are credited to the same fund as your original gift, unless you, the donor, request otherwise or the policies of your company prohibit matching gifts to particular funds.

Q. How do I make a gift of stock? A. The MSU Denver Foundation currently has an account with UMB Stock Brokerage Services. To transfer stocks directly from a broker’s account, Michael Schiffmacher, Foundation Accountant, at 303-605-5489 or schiffmm@msudenver.edu with the stock information (stock, shares, date) and we can confirm receipt.
