Human Services Study Abroad Trip
Students have the unique opportunity to study abroad as they visit and learn from some of the Human Services agencies and programs in Scotland. This once-in-a-lifetime trip allows students to compare Human Services programs in the United States to those offered in Scotland. Students will learn about these programs through travel, site visits and lectures about addictions intervention, the treatment of people involved in gangs, mental health and criminal justice systems, and social services. This ten-day study abroad trip experience includes a cultural tour of Glasgow, a day in Paisley where the students learn about the Social Services and court system in Scotland, a tour of the Good Shepherd Centre and much more.
Our goal is to raise $2,500 to assist students with travel and transportation funding needs. Expenses include public transit passes, meals for the participants, housing for the group, and any other fees related to the trip (baggage fees, passports, etc.) Each student is responsible for raising personal funds to get them to and from Scotland, but the out-of-pocket trip expenses will decrease with the generous help of family, friends and donors.
